What field service software really costs: the fees beyond the monthly price (2026)

Checked November 2026. Every fee below is copied from the vendor's own pricing or product page, linked under each section.

The monthly plan price is only part of what field service software costs. These are the other charges and terms listed on the vendors' own pages. Check each one against your current bill.

1. Per-user charges

• Jobber: each plan includes a set number of users (1, 5, 10, or 15). Extra users are $29/mo each. A "user" is anyone who logs in to view or manage the schedule, office or field.
• Housecall Pro: Basic includes 1 user, Essentials 5, MAX 8. MAX charges $35/mo for each user past 8.
• FieldEdge: plans include 2, 4, or 6 mobile app licenses.
• FieldPulse: seat-based, price by quote.
• Service Fusion: unlimited users on every plan.

2. Card and bank payment fees

• Jobber: 2.9% + 30¢ online card, 2.7% + 30¢ Tap to Pay, 1% bank (ACH), plus 1% more for instant payouts.
• Housecall Pro: card processing "as low as 2.59%", 1% on bank payments. Only the starting rate is on the pricing page.
• Most other vendors (Workiz, Service Fusion, FieldEdge, FieldPulse) list integrated payments but no rates on their pricing pages. Ask for the rate sheet.

These fees grow with your revenue, not your headcount. Every 0.1% on $20,000 of monthly card payments is $20 a month.

3. Contract terms that cost money when you leave

• Jobber: a 1-year commitment billed monthly keeps billing until the 12 months end, even if you cancel. Annual prepaid plans are non-refundable. Plans renew automatically unless set to non-renew.
• Service Fusion: annual pricing is charged as one payment at sign-up. Monthly plans have no contract.
• FieldEdge: downgrades happen only at the end of your current contract period.
• Housecall Pro: says it doesn't require long-term contracts.

4. Intro prices that end

• Housecall Pro's pricing page showed $26/mo for 1 month on Basic and Essentials, and $99/mo for 3 months on MAX when you book a demo. The regular price ($79, $189, or $329/mo monthly) applies after that.
• Free trials often run on a top plan: Jobber's 14-day trial is on Grow, and Housecall Pro's 14-day trial is on MAX. Features can disappear when you pick a lower plan.

5. Add-ons

• Jobber: Receptionist $29/mo, Pipeline $49/mo, Marketing Suite $99/mo.
• Housecall Pro: lists add-ons (CSR AI, Pipeline, Payroll, Accounting, Voice, Campaigns, vehicle GPS) with no prices on the pricing page.
• Workiz: Genius Phone, Genius Answering, and Genius Marketing are sold separately, and so are card readers.
• Service Fusion: GPS fleet tracking and ServiceCall.ai are add-ons on every plan. Starter also lists job photos, inventory, job costing, eSign, and the customer portal as add-ons.
• FieldEdge: Proposal Pro, MarketingEdge, and the customer portal are "call for pricing" on Select and Premier.
• FieldPulse: premium products (phone system, AI, fleet tracking, financing) are optional add-ons.

6. Setup, data import, and support

• Jobber's plan table lists Data Import as a "$499 value", Premium Support as a "$99 value", and white glove onboarding sessions that vary by plan. Ask which of these your plan includes.
• FieldEdge has no free trial. It onboards you with its team instead.

7. Sales tax

Jobber and Housecall Pro both say their listed prices exclude sales tax, which may apply depending on your state.

If card fees are your biggest line

Some shops keep their field service app and process cards through a separate processor. One example is Helcim (helcim.com/pricing). Its pricing page lists:

• No monthly, setup, PCI, or cancellation fees.
• Interchange-plus pricing: the card network's cost (it varies by card) plus Helcim's margin. Under $50K a month, the margin is 0.40% + 8¢ in person and 0.50% + 25¢ keyed or online.
• Bank (ACH) payments: 0.5% + 25¢, capped at $6 (plus 0.05% on amounts over $25,000).
• $15 per chargeback you lose. $5 per rejected ACH payment.

Know the limits before you switch. Helcim connects to Jobber and Housecall Pro through its own browser extension, not a direct integration. Helcim says the extension isn't endorsed by Jobber or Housecall Pro and works on computers and laptops only, not tablets or phones, so techs in the field would need Helcim hardware or another way to take payment. Refunds made outside your field service app may need manual updates. Because interchange varies by card, compare against your own statement rather than a headline rate.
