Move between Jobber and Housecall Pro

This page covers your client (customer) list in both directions. It's what both vendors document step by step. Jobs, invoices, and price lists take more work. Ask the new vendor's support team before you cancel the old one.

How long it takes

Neither vendor gives a time. Housecall Pro emails you when an import is done.

Jobber to Housecall Pro

1. Export clients from Jobber

• Only admin users can export. Client export is on select Jobber plans.
• Clients > More Actions > Export Clients > choose CSV > Export. Jobber emails you the file.
• Each CSV holds up to 1,500 rows. More clients means more than one file in the email.

2. Import into Housecall Pro

• Customers > Actions > Import. Pick the file source and upload the file (CSV, Excel, and others work).
• Check the suggested field matches. Fields you don't match are thrown out.
• Fix any rows marked in red (use the Invalid toggle), then click Submit. You get an email when it's done.
• Don't change the imported records until the import is finished and you've checked them.

Housecall Pro to Jobber

1. Export customers (and jobs) from Housecall Pro

• Only admins can export. Customers > Actions > Export > confirm your email > Send file. The CSV comes from [email protected].
• For jobs: Jobs > Actions > Export > Send File.

2. Import clients into Jobber

• Only admin users can import. It won't run in a private or incognito browser window.
• Clients > More Actions > Import > Begin Import > Add file.
• Check that each column matches a Jobber field, or save it as a custom field. Fix anything marked Invalid, then click Import.
• Keep each file under 2.5 MB (about 5,000 rows). Split bigger lists.
• If your clients are also in QuickBooks, Jobber suggests syncing from QuickBooks first to avoid duplicates.

What doesn't come over cleanly

• Housecall Pro imports one level of customers. Sub-customers (like parent and child billing accounts) are skipped unless you put each on its own row first.
• Jobber can't import custom lead sources. Only Facebook, Google, Instagram, Flyer, Referral, Vehicle Wrap, and Other come in.
• Housecall Pro's MAX plan includes help from its Data Import team for job history, equipment, and price book data. The basic transfer is free, but extra fees may apply for files that need more formatting.
