Move from Mailchimp to Brevo

How long it takes

Brevo says existing contacts start syncing as soon as you turn the integration on, and the sync may take several minutes. Rebuilding emails and automations is extra. Brevo doesn't give a time for that.

1. Save a backup from Mailchimp first

• Click Audience, pick the audience, click Export audience, then Export CSV. The export can come as a ZIP of separate CSV files. It stays in your account for 30 days.
• For a fuller backup (emails, audiences, reports), Mailchimp also has an account export.

2. Clean your list

• Brevo only accepts contacts who agreed to hear from you in the last two years. Remove anyone else (for example, bought or rented lists) before you connect.
• Brevo may suspend campaigns sent to people who did not agree.

3. Connect Mailchimp to Brevo

1. In Brevo, open the account menu and pick Integrations. Search for Mailchimp and click Set up integration.
2. Name it (for example, "Mailchimp Subscribers"), click Continue, then Contact synchronization, and turn on syncing.
3. Click Log in to Mailchimp Contacts, log in, and allow Brevo access.
4. Pick the Mailchimp lists to bring over and click Use this list.
5. Match each Mailchimp field to a Brevo field. Only Email is required. Pick Do not import for anything you don't want.
6. Pick or create the Brevo list they go into.
7. Pick how often new Mailchimp contacts sync. A manual Sync now needs at least 6 hours between runs.
8. Check the consent box (only if it's true), then click Save.

What doesn't come over

• Mailchimp tags. Brevo doesn't import them.
• Address fields, and dropdown (category) fields.
• Contacts whose phone number isn't 6 to 16 digits.
• People Mailchimp blocks for compliance (unsubscribed, permanently deleted, or invalid emails).
• Brevo marks synced contacts as subscribed, and later subscription changes in Mailchimp don't carry over. Watch for this if you keep both running.
• The integration moves contacts. Brevo's page doesn't cover emails, templates, forms, or automations, so plan to rebuild those.

Up to 1 million contacts can sync.
